Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
ASD is a neurodevelopment disorder that affects social and communication abilities

1 :44 Children are diagnosed with ASD
Children with autism often struggle with sensory sensitivity, making it challenging for them to engage in conversation, maintain eye contact, and cope with loud environments, among other difficulties.
Design opportunity
How might we help family with ASD children to better communicate with each other and build up a stronger family bond?

Painpoints

They enjoy going outside and into the nature, but they are not comfortable with crowds and loud sounds

They do not understand the world around them and cannot remember things.

Words are difficult for them and they do not know how to show their world to their family.
so
How can we really help them to communicate?
Machine that talks for them? Objects that help them to express emotions? Toys that they could interact?

After thorough research, I came across an organization called Momentum. This organization offers therapy for children with autism, helping them learn, grow, and find joy in the world.

I decided to visit them myself.
non-directive Play Therapy
The therapist leaves the child to engage in whatever play activities they might enjoy and express themselves with limited interference.
Gardening

Neuroatypical children also love nature, but they have limited locations they can go.

Gardens/backyards are safe, private and controllable.

Simple operation practices their motor skill and creating long term communication.
